Fursuit Care Guide
Fursuit is a big investment. With proper care, it can look new and last longer.
This guide will help you with washing, drying, disinfecting, brushing, and storing your fursuit.
General Rules
- Always use cold or room temperature water (20–30 °C max).
- Never use heat, tumble dryers, or hair dryers.
- Brush the fur regularly in the direction of the pile to prevent matting.
- Always disinfect after use.
Disinfection
- Always disinfect your fursuit after each use.
- Use a fabric-safe disinfectant without dyes.
- You can also use our Arget & Lazuli Fursuit Spray, which disinfects and leaves a fresh scent.
Protogen Head Care
Small Stains
- Avoid all electronics when cleaning.
- Use gentle wet wipes for small dirt spots.
- Clean visors with glass or lens cleaner, and always remove visor from the head first.
- Check that no moisture reaches the electronics.
Deep Cleaning the Head
- Light dirt: use wet wipes to gently clean the protogen.
- Heavy dirt: use a carpet cleaner or extraction vacuum.
- Clean with cold water and mild detergent.
- Always remove electronics before deeper cleaning. Never wet electronics.
- Dry near a fan and brush every few hours.
Fursuit Head Care
Small Stains
- Use gentle wet wipes for small dirt spots.
- Clean eyes with a dry, soft cloth to avoid scratches.
Deep Cleaning
- Clean with cold water and mild detergent.
- Gently clean forehead, muzzle, and neck.
- Use carpet cleaner or extraction vacuum.
- Rinse thoroughly, gently squeeze out water (do not twist).
- Dry near a fan and brush every few hours.
- Brush fur during drying to keep it fluffy.
- Never use heat or tumble dryers.
- For eyes, use a wet wipe. Dab carefully. Do not scrub.
Paws, Tails, Armsleeves, Feetpaws
Small Stains
- Use wet wipes or a damp cloth.
- Brush the fur gently to refresh it
Deep Cleaning
- Place in a large laundry bag for machine washing.
- Wash cold on gentle cycle or hand wash.
- Use mild detergent, avoid powders or harsh chemicals.
- Air dry only, never use a dryer.
- Brush regularly during drying.
